Her paper, “Transformed and Reinterpreted: Boulle Revisited, 1775-1850,” explores what it meant when century-old works were later repurposed and seeks to complicate the recontextualization of Boulle furniture.

An architect and architectural historian, Professor Chattopadhyay specializes in modern architecture and urbanism, and the cultural landscape of British colonialism.

The grant will support research for her dissertation, “Reinventing Work: Modernist Wood and Skilled Trade, 1940-1970.”
