Bio:
Mallory Sharp is a 5th year Ph.D. Candidate at UC Santa Barbara where she specializes in African and African diaspora art history. Mallory studies twentieth-century West African art and visual culture and her interests include modernity, nationalism, Pan Africanism, gender and collecting. Her research focus is on collections of and pedagogy surrounding African art at historically black educational institutions. Mallory’s article, "All the World's Futures: Globalization of Contemporary African Art at the 2015 Venice Biennale," appeared in Critical Interventions: Journal of African Art History and Visual Culture 10, no. 1 (July 2016). Her review of African Art in the Barnes Foundation by Christa Clarke appeared in caa.reviews (June 30, 2016). She received her M.A. in the History of Art from Indiana University in 2014 and graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in History from Harding University in 2012.
