Bio:
Dan C. Baciu is guest lecturer in the Department of the History of Art and Architecture and postdoctoral scholar in the Program of English. He studies cultural change and the dynamics of public discourse. Originally trained in architecture at ETH Zurich, Dr. Baciu was a practicing architect and editor of a professional architectural magazine in Switzerland before coming to the United States to pursue his doctorate at Illinois Institute of Technology, supported by scholarships from the Swiss American Society, the Fulbright Program, and the Swiss National Science Foundation. In Chicago, Dr. Baciu studied everything called Chicago School across the disciplines. His research project supported by the HathiTrust Research Center was the first to make non-consumptive use of restricted data outside the research center. Dr. Baciu’s discoveries include an evolutionary model of large-scale dissemination and reception of ideas.
