Antiquity and Modernity at the Capitoline Museum

Carole Paul, Senior Lecturer

This talk by Dr. Carole Paul will explore the founding and development of the Museo Capitolino, the first great public art museum, in eighteenth-century Rome. It will focus on the collection of antiquities, examining the modernity of its display and other innovative aspects of the museum as well as the ways that visitors responded to this new kind of institution.
