Aleesa Pitchamarn Alexander, Ph.D. Candidate, has been awarded a Jane and Morgan Whitney Fellowship from the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the 2017-2018 academic year. The endowed fellowship is awarded for study, work, or research to students of the fine arts whose fields are related to the Museum's collection, with preference given to students in the decorative arts who are under forty years of age. The fellowship will support research for her dissertation, "Unaccountable Modernisms: The Black Arts of Post-Civil Rights Alabama."
