D.Phil. University of Oxford, 1991 Spieker specializes in European modernism, with an emphasis on the Eastern European avant-gardes, contemporary art, and critical theory. Spieker's recent graduate seminars in the department have included: "European Dada"(2005-2006); "Foucault and the Future of Critical Theory" (2006-2007); "Surrealism and Psychoanalysis" (2005-2006); "LA/Moscow: Repetitions"(2004-2005); "Marcel Duchamp" (2007-08). In 2005, Spieker organized a two-day conference devoted to the digital image at the intersection of science and art. Spieker's most recent book-length publication is "The Big Archive.
